Bishop Raymond Whitsey

Under his leadership and vision, after 39 years as the Senior Pastor/Teacher of Mount Calvary Church of Birmingham, Alabama, Raymond has seen his church grow within the ministry. He has always known that God Called him to preach the gospel in his early 20’s. He grew up in the West End community and graduated from Wenonah High School. After accepting his calling, he attended Birmingham Easonian Baptist College. He went on to marry his lovely wife Pastor Amethyst Whitsey, where their union created three beautiful girls. In growing the ministry, he has molded five pastors, who are actively pastoring their own churches. He believes that the essence of Christian Leadership is to follow Christ. He believes if you follow Christ, and listen to His instruction, you will be a great leader. Putting Christ ahead of everything you do and praying to God for instruction and direction are the ingredients to becoming a great Christian Leader. He strives to allow God to lead and direct his paths every day of his life. 1 Timothy 3:1-13
